Some Odd Girl December Sketch

Hello Odd Friends!

Welcome to the Some Odd Girl December Sketch.  Have you seen it?  Of course you have.  It's delightful.  Seeing as how we're entering Wintery goodness here in the Midwest, I just had to polar it up.  Oh, yea, and I {puffy heart} polar bears.  Like, seriously...love me some polar bears.

/derailing for a moment
I recently switched jobs.  I have a cube mate now.  He's a fun lovin', retired airforce, former farm boy turned software nerd, with entirely way too many Nerf guns.  I moved in and with me came all of my polar bears.  He shoots them with his Nerf guns.  Then World War Polar breaks out in the office and next thing you know, there are Ramen Noodles EVERYWHERE.  Certainly that will make sense to my fellow Engineers who spend more time in their Cubes than they do at home.  No?  Am I the only one?  Ok...moving on...
/derail

I *had* to use Polar Pals for this card.  Why?  Because Polar Bear + Wintery Goodness = Love.

During Kristy's Birthday Month celebration, Elaine share a tutorial for creating the Northern Lights background.  It was amazing and I had to try it.

I think Elaine used ShinHan Touch Twin markers. I used Copics:

Polar Bear/Snow: C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, and B02.
Sky: B99, B16, BG13, BV01, G02, and B00.  I added the snow with a white gel pen.

That's it.  Lovin' on some polar bears over here.  How about you?  What SOG goodness will you be using for your December sketch?  Link up to the Some Odd Girl Challenge to play along!  I can't wait to see what everyone creates!

Thanks for looking!

It's An Odd Day

Hello Friends,

It's an Odd day around here.  As part of Some Odd Girl Facebook Fun Day we were challenged to stamp and color on fabric.  Admittedly, I had a hard time with it.  Fabric is a touch adjustment for coloring.  I also used the Some Odd Girl Challenge Sketch to create my card:

The card base is Papertrey Ink's Stamper's Select White cardstock.  The pattern papers are from DCWV's Whimsy pack.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Way To Go, Kiddo set and I stitched the layers together [I sewed! My husband was happy that I put my sewing machine to use!]

I printed Shy Kaylee on Tailor Sew In Colorfast Fabric Sheets and colored her up using Copics:
Hair: E15, E17, E19
Skin/Eyes: E000, E00, E11, E13, YG09, YG07, YG06
Clothes: RV10, RV13, RV14, V000, V01, V04

That it!

Game On!

Some Odd Girl challenged us to a Non-Traditional Hair challenge!  That means we can color hair any way we want, as long as it's not the typical blonde, brown, black, etc.

I used my favorite Geeky Mae to make this card:

I just love Geeky Mae.  I colored her using Copics:

Hair: C9, C7, C5, RV14, RV13
Skin: E11, E00, E000, RV11
Clothes, YG09, YG07, YG06, YR09, YR07, YR04.
Eyes: B29, B28

The card base is Papertrey Ink's True Black.  The orange layers are all Recollections.

All of the pattern papers, including 'Game On', are from DCWV's Tech Paper Pack.

I think she's just AH-dorable!

I used this month's SFYTT to complete Some Odd Girl's Inspiration Challenge.

Here is our SFYTT:

Here is the Card I made using Some Odd Girl's Alice Mae

The card base is Papertrey Ink's White Cardstock.  The heart and tree papers are both from Stampin' Up! (Thanks, MAL!)  The Confetti paper is also from Stampin' Up!.

Hair: E15, E13, Y18, Y15
Dress/Bow/Tights/Shoes: B14, B02, B00

Giggles For Some Odd Sketch.

Some Odd Girl has challenged us with a Sketch Challenge.  Here is our sketch inspiration:

Here is the card I made:

The card base is Papertrey Ink's white cardstock.  The pattern paper is from Echo Park Paper's Springtime pack.

The image is Some Odd Girl's Giggle Fairy.  Isn't she ah-dorable?!  I colored her using Copics:

Skin: E11, E00, E000, R81
Hair: R27, E19, E17, E15, E13
Skirt: G24, G82, YG03
Shirt: R83, R81
Belt: E17, E15
Wings: C3, C2, C1, [Diamond Stickles!!]
Eyes: B07, B05, B02, B00

The flowers were made using Papertrey Ink's Bloom Builder and random Recollections papers from Michaels.  I attached them using sparkly black brads.  I *love* this die set.  Admittedly, I don't use it very often because it's kind of a pain.  The dots scattered about are actually the scraps from cutting out the blooms.  The sentiment is from a Fiskars Sentiments set.

The leaf cutouts are from Papertrey Ink's Leaf Print dies.

Last but not least, I had to add another picture of the sparkly Stickles.  Ya'll know how much I love my Stickles!

Some Odd Challenge: We're All Mad Here!

Some Odd Girl challenged us with a sketch.  I colored this image and didn't know what to do with it.  I just wanted to color it!  I saw the challenge and figured I would apply it to a card.

Here is our sketch:

Here is the card I made:

The image is Mad Hatter Kody, colored using Copics. The card base is Papertrey's True Black card stock.  The Pattern Paper is BoBunny.

The sentiment is from Kraftin' Kimmies.

The skulls are from Michael's.  I can't remember the manufacturer and my 150lb dog has be blocked into my desk, so I can't find out.

*gasp*  Do you know how long it's been since I've used STICKLES?  STICKLES ARE BACK!

Some Odd Girl Monochrome

This week's Some Odd Girl Challenge is to only use Black and White.  I was excited to do this challenge because I've never colored with a pure monochrome shading technique, so it was new for me.  I also used this opportunity to complete this week's CPS Sketch #240.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on the card using Some Odd Girl's Sigh Mae in her unsaturated glory:

The card base is Papertrey Ink's black cardstock.  The background paper is from DCWV's Alphabetics paper pack.  The 'H' and 'I' are from the same back.  I cut out and framed each letter.

Sigh Mae was colored using Copic's C9, C7, C5, C3, C2, and C1.  To color the skin, I used C2 and C1, then used the colorless blender to shade.

Lastly, I used my Black and Frost Stickles to accent her dress, shoes, eyes, and hair.  I used liquid pearl to add some shiny to the highlights in her hair.

Some Odd Girl Challenge

Welcome to my first Some Odd Girl Challenge.  I am new to Some Odd Girl Stamps.  I've been broadening my horizons in attempt to keep the creativity going.  This is the 12th card I've sent to my Dad in the hospital in as many days.  It's difficult to make a card every day to send to the same person just to keep his spirits up.

Rambling aside, Some Odd Girl has challenged us with the following sketch:

Here is my take on the card:

Once I got the card done, I realized it was *way* to girly to send to my 61 year-old veteran, Harley riding, Daddy.  So, I sent him a card from the stash and mailed this one on to a very special friend.

I used Some Odd Girl's Sigh Mae digi and colored using Copics.

Hair: Y28, Y26, and Y32.
Dress/Shoes: BV04, BV01, BV00
Socks: B02, B00, B000, E000
Skin: E11, E00, E000
Eyes: BG18, BG15, BG13

I then accented with my beloved Stickles, although you can't really tell from the photo.
Socks: Frosted Lace on E000.
Hair: Yellow on lines
Dress: Purple around edge

I used Nestabilities and printed the sentiment off of my PC onto Papertrey Ink's white cardstock. The purple cardstock is Recollections from Michaels.  Honestly, I have no clue where I got the purple bling hearts.  They were in my embellishments bin and I only had three left...

The card base is Papertrey Ink's white cardstock.  The patter paper is Little Yellow Bicycle Loose Leaf and Blue bubbles (1 sheet, double sided).

The ribbon is Celebrate It Holiday wired edge ribbon (I removed the wire prior to adhering it to the card.)  I stuck the card together using a combination of Tombow tape roller (who recently changed their tape...and I don't like it), and glue dots.

Anywhose, I think that covers it all.  I really enjoyed by first SOGgy.  I've stalked the blog for awhile, but never jumped on board.  Yay for the SOG Hop.  =o )
