Rizzo's Adventures in Play-dohland

Rizzo and I decided to make play-doh.  I thought I would post the recipe online for friends who would be interested in doing the same.  It was fun and the play-doh turned out GREAT!

Start by adding 2 cups of flour.

Then add 1 cup of salt.

Add 1 Tbsp of Cream of Tartar for elasticity.

...and 2 Tbsp of Canola Oil.

Last, add 2 cups of warm water and stir.

You want to stir it until it's well mixed.

Set it on the stove and stir constantly over low heat.

It starts off nice and smooth.

It'll start to thicken up and get difficult to stir.  It got a little too hard for Rizzo's little arms, so Daddy stepped in to take over.

It continues to thicken, and takes some real muscle.  Daddy was starting to get tired.

It's done when the mixture starts to pull away from the edges and clump in the center.  Stir for about 2 minutes more, or until you can stick your finger in the dough and it doesn't stick to you.

Then empty it onto a sheet to cool.

It takes a while.  Rizzo was very patient.

Rizzo checked to see if it was cool...

...and left a hand print, which gave us an idea!

Mommy/Daughter handprints!  The play-doh is cooling nicely and molds well.

When it cools, divide the dough into fourths and roll into balls.  Tear them in half and put food coloring in the center.

Knead the food coloring from the inside out, and there you have it!  Play-doh!

And now the photos of Rizzo and her play-doh.

It squishes nicely.

I came out to find this on the table.  I think Daddy had something to do with it.

He also helped Rizzo build a Smurf village.

Complete with Papa Smurf.

Hello Kitty Duct Tape Purse

What?!  You made a Hello Kitty Duct Tape purse?!  Why, Yes I DID!

A long time ago, a good friend of mine got my daughter (then 2 yo) a roll of Hello Kitty duct tape.  It's been in my purse for months!  What on Earth am I going to do with Hello Kitty duct tape?  I have to do something awesome, but what?!

A purse, you say?  A.purse.I.say.

The pictures are terrible, but I am so darn proud of myself right now.  =o )  I used the Hello Kitty duct tape and a roll of purple that I picked up.  I thought doing the entire thing in Hello Kitties may be overload to the point of creepiness.

It was actually really easy to do.

The handles even worked out well.  I was very thankful for my Crop-A-Dile.

The inside of the purse is a random fabric I had lying around.  It was the only thing I had that was pink, so I'm not sure it matches, but Rizzo won't care.  I hope she's as excited about this as I am.
