A Gift

Hello Friends,

Holy crap!  Where have I been?  Let's not get into it.

A co-worker of mine bought a gift for his wife and said he was going to buy a card.  I cringed.  *Buy* a card?  Um, no.

So, I made him one using Saturated Canary's Molly.  This is the first card I've made in over six months.  It felt good.  It's heavily inspired by the DT Member Franz.

I distressed and stamped with Stampin' Up!'s Marina Mist.
The snowflakes are a Sizzix die distressed with Marina Mist, then hand painted with Diamond Stickles.
The flowers and doily are all from Wild Orchid.
I have no clue where the patter papers are from.  They were in the stash.  I'm sure you can relate.
Notice the sewn snowflakes on the left between the Sizzix dies?  Yup!  My sewing machine does a snowflake stitch.  Who knew?!

Is that it?  Did I get everything?

I colored Miss Molly using Copics:
Hair: E53, E25, E57, E29
Skin/Lips: E000, E00, E11, E04, BV01/R27, R20, R22:
Clothes: BG000, B00, BG01, BG02, BG05, V000, V01, V04, V06
Sky, B0000, B000, B00
Snow: C1, C2, C3, C4
...and of course a little Polar White Flower Soft to fluff up her coat.  [I have since fixed the little pieces that ventured outside the lines.]

That's it!  Thanks for stopping by!

A couple new SOGgies for your Sunday

Hello Friends.

It's been a really long time since I played in blog land.  Crafting has been going on, but not much.  I'll be honest, I made a *ton* of homemade gifts for the holidays and got completely burnt out.  I took a short break and now I'm excited to be back among the crafty supplies again.

I have a couple of new Some Odd Girl cards today.  Something romantic and something simple.

Let's start with something simple:

I used Under the Sea Mae to make a CAS card using my favorite colors:

I've colored this stamp a lot.  I've never posted anything because I haven't been happy with how they've come out.  I was excited when I finished this one and like it.  =o )

I stamped the sentiment using Tim Holt'z Snowcap paint dabber, then distressed using Dusty Concord and Salty Ocean.  After distressing, I used a white paper towel to wipe the ink off of the sentiment so it remained white.

I colored her up using Copics:
Hair: E00, E21, E31, E33, and E57
Skin:  E000, E00, E11, E04
Tail/Top/Shell: V000, V01, V12, V25, V04, V06, V09, BG000, B02, B23, BG05, BG07

Next we'll get romantic using Love Letter Mae:

The card base is SU!'s Confetti paper.  The pattern papers are from DCVW Authentique paper pack.

I stamped the pattern paper using PTI's Love and Marriage stamp set with Tattered Rose distress ink.  The You & Me is stamped in SU!'s Raspberry Ripple.

I colored Mae using Copics.  I'll try and remember which ones:   =o )

Hair:  E13, E15, E17, E19, E77
Skin: E000, E01, E11, E04. BV01
Dress/Feather: BG18, BG15, BG13, and [I think] BG78.  BV04, BV01, BV000
Paper: C3, C2, C1, and 0

That's it!  Thanks for looking!

A Musical Saturated Canary Challenge

Hello Friends.

Saturated Canary Challenge #34 challenged us to create a card inspired by a song.  Being the music lover that I am, I just had to play along.  Problem is my musical tastes are incredibly eclectic.  Will my card be inspired by Elton John?  Slayer? Chopin? Phantom of the Opera? Pearl Jam?  How on Earth do you decide?  Well, you open iTunes, hit shuffle, and become inspired by the first song you hear...that's how!

So, of the 7,328 songs in my iTunes library, the first to play was "Not While I'm Around" from the musical (and later Tim Burton film) Sweeney Todd.  Haven't seen it?  You really do need a stomach for the worst pies in London to enjoy it, but it's one of my favs.

Here's a not-so-high-quality clip from the Tim Burton film:

This song was perfect.  I used to sing this to my daughter.  Here is the card that came out of it using Saturated Canary's New Baby:

Colored using Copics:
Hair:  E21, E31, E33, E57, E59
Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, E04, R22, R20, E21, E35, E29, R81, E83, R85
Dress: V000, V01, V12, V04, V06, V09, V25, B00, B02, B16
Blanket: YG41, YG06, YG07, and 0

Everything else on the card came from the scrap pile.  You gotta get rid of 'em somehow.  =o D

That's it!  Thanks for looking!

Hello Odd Friends,

I have a new card to share with you for this week's Some Odd Girl Clear Release.  I hope you're as excited as I am for a new Mae!

How adorable is Flirty Mae?  Stinkin' adorable!

I colored her up using Copics:

Skin: E000, E01, E11, E13, R20
Shirt/Shoes: R81, R83, R85, R39
Skirt/Jacket: E75, E77, E79

This sentiment is part of the clear sentiments set.  Isn't it fantastic?

The pattern papers are My Mind's Eye.  I used some brown twine, white buttons, lace and brown ribbons to embellish.

The button is KI Memories [Exclusive for Archivers].

That's it!  Love Mae?  Love the sentiments?  Head on over to Some Odd Girl to get your own!

Meet Giddy Tia!

Hello Again, Odd Friends!

Back again with another Some Odd Girl release.

Meet Giddy Tia!

This card is a CASE of Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire make and take.  When I saw Giddy Tia, I instantly thought of that card.  I've spent so much time coloring lately that it actually felt good to stamp!  The background was stamped using Papertrey Ink's Natural Beauties set and Stampin' Up!'s Bashful Bride, Pixie Pink, Delightful Daffodil, and Garden Green inks.  The card base is Papertrey Ink's Raspberry Fizz.

I colored Tia using Copics:
Hair: E21, E31, E33, and E04.
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E04 R22, R20, and E19
Dress/Shoes: B93, B95, B97, B99, YR00, YR02, YR04, and YR07
Eyes: G16, YG09, YG07, and YG06.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set.  It's stamped on vellum using Memento's Tuxedo Black.  (I should have used Ranger Archival.)

I have no clue where I got this little memory heart.  I *think* it was a Michael's clearance?

That's it!

Thanks for looking!

Some Odd Girl Hol-ODD-Day Hop!

Hello Odd Friends!

Are you playing along with the Some Odd Girl Hol-ODD-Day hop?  If you are, great!  If not, you should be!  All you have to do is link up a Holiday themed Some Odd Girl project (new or old). Hop on over to the Some Odd Girl Blog for the deets.

So, if you read my Some Odd Girl December Sketch post, you'd know that I love Winter.  It is by far my favorite season!  I love the holidays, the snow, polar bear themed goodness, and the plethora of peppermint scented everythings!  Bath and Body works releases their Twisted Peppermint line.  Yankee Candle releases their peppermint candles.  Peppermint bath salts, candy; this year I even found peppermint Chapstick!

Since my last card was a Polar Bear, I decided I would turn my focus and use Elf Kaylee to create a peppermint themed treat box:

Again, this is not a card...it's a box!

With peppermints.  I love peppermints.  Both the peppermint paper and ribbon are from Michaels.  (I got them last year, so I'm not sure if they have currently have any.)

The top layers is actually a blue diamond pattern, but it's hard to see in the photos.

I colored Ms. Kaylee using Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E11
Hair: E21, E31, E33, E35, E55, E57
Reds: E77, R35, E29
Greens: G18, G17, G16, G05, G02
Whites: W7 - W0 (all)
Gold: Y28, Y26, Y18
...and Stickles.  Lots of Frosted Lace and Xmas Red Stickles!

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Tremendous Treats: Christmas set.  I stamped it in Stampin' Up!'s Red Riding Hood.

Here's a final view with the box and the lid.  =o D

Some Odd Girl December Sketch

Hello Odd Friends!

Welcome to the Some Odd Girl December Sketch.  Have you seen it?  Of course you have.  It's delightful.  Seeing as how we're entering Wintery goodness here in the Midwest, I just had to polar it up.  Oh, yea, and I {puffy heart} polar bears.  Like, seriously...love me some polar bears.

/derailing for a moment
I recently switched jobs.  I have a cube mate now.  He's a fun lovin', retired airforce, former farm boy turned software nerd, with entirely way too many Nerf guns.  I moved in and with me came all of my polar bears.  He shoots them with his Nerf guns.  Then World War Polar breaks out in the office and next thing you know, there are Ramen Noodles EVERYWHERE.  Certainly that will make sense to my fellow Engineers who spend more time in their Cubes than they do at home.  No?  Am I the only one?  Ok...moving on...
/derail

I *had* to use Polar Pals for this card.  Why?  Because Polar Bear + Wintery Goodness = Love.

During Kristy's Birthday Month celebration, Elaine share a tutorial for creating the Northern Lights background.  It was amazing and I had to try it.

I think Elaine used ShinHan Touch Twin markers. I used Copics:

Polar Bear/Snow: C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, and B02.
Sky: B99, B16, BG13, BV01, G02, and B00.  I added the snow with a white gel pen.

That's it.  Lovin' on some polar bears over here.  How about you?  What SOG goodness will you be using for your December sketch?  Link up to the Some Odd Girl Challenge to play along!  I can't wait to see what everyone creates!

Thanks for looking!
